We're not gonna sugarcoat it... it's hot, everything's on fire, and the news cycle can feel like a lot. But that's exactly why this work matters! Every conversation you start helps people connect what's happening around them to the bigger picture, and that's how change begins.
Here's what Ground Crew’s month looks like.

🎤 Creator Spotlight

This month we caught up with AuthenticTeeCee. Her videos are proof that you don't have to be an expert to get people thinking about sustainability. Whether she's sharing clever ways to reduce food waste or simply making people laugh, TeeCee has a way of making climate feel approachable instead of overwhelming. Here’s what she had to say:
You knew you wanted to be a creator before most people took social media seriously. How did that journey begin?
I've wanted to do this since I was in middle school. Back then I found YouTube almost by accident, and I was completely fascinated by people who could just sit in front of a camera and entertain millions. For years I went back and forth between chasing that dream and trying to live what felt like a more "normal" life, but really I was saving up so I could bet on myself. One morning I woke up at 5 a.m., looked at my phone, and said, "I'm going to start making TikToks, and I'm never going to stop." Six years later, here we are.
Your videos make sustainability feel approachable instead of overwhelming. What's your secret?
I don't really think about it as having a strategy. People can tell when you're trying too hard or when you're talking about something you don't genuinely care about. I'd rather just be myself. I can be funny, joke around, and still deliver the message. The biggest thing is being willing to be imperfect. Show people your mistakes. Admit when you're still learning. Nobody relates to perfection, but everybody relates to someone who's figuring it out.
What advice would you give creators who want to start talking about climate?
First, actually care. If you don't care, people will feel that. But you also don't have to be an expert. I'm still learning too. Be a student while you teach. Bring your audience along with you instead of pretending you already have all the answers. That's a much more honest way to create, and people respect honesty.
What's something you've learned about sustainability that genuinely surprised you?
I've become fascinated by how much potential we overlook in everyday food. Something as simple as realizing you can grow more food from scraps or seeds completely changed how I think. Most people don't avoid sustainable habits because they don't care, they just don't know these options exist. That's why I think these videos matter. You don't need to explain the entire climate crisis. Sometimes it's enough to simply show someone that their orange can do something they never expected.
What keeps you excited about creating?
I love taking something completely ordinary and turning it into something entertaining. Every piece of content is like a puzzle. You have all these little pieces, and your job is figuring out how they fit together into a story that makes people feel something. That's the part of content creation that never gets old.
Any final thoughts for the Ground Crew community?
I hope this work keeps growing. One of Ground Crew's biggest strengths is bringing together creators who can reach audiences that traditional climate communication often can't. The message matters, but so does who delivers it and how they deliver it. The knowledge I've gained through this experience is worth far more than any paycheck. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and I hope more creators get the chance to be part of it.
📰 Climate News & Prompts
1. Is checking the AQI adding to your screen time?
Wildfire smoke from Canada's record-breaking fire season drifted into the northeast, sending air quality plummeting hundreds of miles away.
🌫️ Prompt: Air quality is one of the easiest ways to connect climate to everyday life. Whether it's checking the AQI before a run or cancelling your outdoor plans all together, show your audience how climate’s affecting something they already pay attention to.
2. Nature is proving that restoration works
From Kenya to Southeast Asia, mangrove restoration projects are bringing coastlines back to life!
🌳 Prompt: Find one place that's gotten better because people invested in it (a restored park, cleaner streets, community garden) and tell that success story!
3. El Niño is making a comeback
Forecasters say a Super El Niño with dangerous weather patterns is en route (think heavier rainfall in some places and drought and heat in others). Check out this video from Ground Crew members Nikita and Kate who explain it better than we do.
🌊 Prompt: What's one weather "plot twist" you've noticed where you live lately? — Sofi crushed this!

Forget the Big Apple... it's the Big Orange 🍊 She carted an orange around NYC to see if she could keep every part out of the trash.
It’s hot af, and we have to pay more to cool down? Big polluters aren’t just causing climate change, they’re being annoying about it too.
Vermont really said these floods are not “Act of God” anymore, but “Act of Exxon”.
Thanks for using your creativity to help people connect the dots, imagine something better, and remember they're not in this alone. We're so grateful to be doing this work alongside you.
